iPhone will soon have the OLED display if Samsung wins a prolonged deal with the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL). Reportedly, the latter is mulling using Samsung’s Organic light-emitting diode technology called OLED in the iPhone 8 that is slated to be out in 2018. The industry sources claim that Samsung is pursuing Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) to use the OLED technology in their upcoming smartphones.

Currently the iPhone is equipped with the LED screen which is more expensive and Samsung has been using the OLED technology for over 4 years now. According to company sources, the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone 7 would have the LCD screen.

Win-Win Situation For Samsung & Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)

Switching to the OLED screen is going to be a wise move for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) as it has a lower requirement of power, appears more appealing, offers a wider and brighter color display than the current iPhone screen.

Samsung stands to gain with a display contract with Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) as even though the Galaxy phones are hot picks in the market, the company can reach nowhere as compared to the iPhone sales. The deal is going to be a growth pedestal for Samsung opening the business opportunities for the tech company in the tech world.

New Hope For Display Industry

The move is also going to help Samsung reduce its growth dependence on the Electronics division as per an industry source. The Galaxy smartphones of Samsung are currently using the OLED displays but the growth figures are not going to be stable forever. The Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) deal will open doors to other tech clients to sign similar contracts with Samsung and the company is already mulling approaching Chinese tech giants for selling their OLED technology that is going to cut the cost of smartphones. The deal will usher in a new revolution in the display industry worldwide.

Korea has been ruling the display industry for long and Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will get a chance to increase its sales margins by opting for the OLED displays in its smartphones. The company is currently working on reducing costs and addressing other technological glitches to offer cheaper iPhones in the market and increase their already huge share in the industry.
